Human Health and the Environment Workshop

September 20, 2011

A Human Health and the Environment Workshop will be held on Tuesday Oct. 4 at the CCI Center, 64 South 14

th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15203, from 6:30-8 p.m.

The workshop, presented by the Pennsylvania Resources Council in partnership with UPCI Center for Environmental Oncology, is designed to heighten awareness and encourage action around the issue of toxins in the environment.

Everyone is exposed to a number of different chemicals, carcinogens, and toxins in the environment on a daily basis, and while there may be no control over some exposures, there are many that are.

The workshop encourages action around the issue of carcinogens and toxins that everyone comes into contact with through the products used and food eaten. The workshop also focuses on the consequences of these toxins on health and how to avoid exposure. The program provides the public with practical solutions such as safe alternatives and healthy lifestyle choices.@

In an effort to reduce exposure to toxins and to reduce the amount of toxins in the environment, all workshop participants will receive a non-toxic green cleaning kit. The cost of the workshop is $20 per participant or $25 per couple.

Those interested in attending the workshop should contact Sarah Alessio Shea at saraha@ccicenter.org, by calling 412-488-7490 ext. 236, or by visiting http://www.prc. org.
