Improvement district survey delayed, but still important

September 20, 2011

Copies of the property owner survey sent out by the South Side Improvement District (SSID) Steering Committee of the South Side Planning Forum arrived later than expected with some survey only hitting mailboxes later last week.

Originally the surveys were slated to be in the hands of property owners in late August. A deadline was set for the surveys to be returned by Sept. 6 to be eligible for a drawing for Double Wide Grill gift certificates.

Due to a problem with the mailing company used to distribute the surveys, the deadline to return the surveys and still be eligible for the gift certificate drawings was extended to Sept. 16.

Susie Puskar, neighborhood outreach coordinator for the SSID, said although it's too late to be entered in the drawings it's not too late to return the completed surveys. She said all returned surveys will be read and analyzed regardless of when they are returned.

"The progress and the success [of the South Side Improvement District] depends entirely on the community. If the community doesn't want it, nothing will be forced upon them," she said.

Two community meetings will be held in October to discuss the findings of the surveys and present more information about the improvement district.

In the meantime, South Side property owners with questions about the improvement district may contact Ms. Puskar at 412-481-0651 ext. 11 or by email at Susie@ssimprovement district.com.

A copy of the survey is online at www.surveymonkey.com/s/SSIDresident for residents or https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SSIDbusiness for businesses.
