MWDBE to host annual open house on Sept. 14
The Allegheny County Department of Minority, Women & Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (MWDBE) will host its Eighth Annual Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 5:30- 7:30 p.m. in the Liberty Room on the lower level of the Human Services Building located at One Smithfield Street, Downtown Pittsburgh.
"The Allegheny County Department of Minority, Women & Disadvantaged Business Enterprise works to ensure that minority-owned, women-owned, and disadvantaged businesses have the best opportunity to obtain and perform contracts with Allegheny County," said MWDBE Director Ruth Byrd-Smith.
"Our open house is the perfect chance for these businesses owners and their employees to network with Allegheny County departments and other local businesses, as well as to learn about the newest business and contract opportunities."
The event will feature information regarding MWDBE services that address legal and financial concerns of small businesses. An explanation of the county's electronic bidding process will also be presented. In addition, MWDBE staff will discuss the Allegheny County Construction Contractors Institute, a program implemented this year to assist contracting firms certified through the Pennsylvania Unified Certification Program.
Refreshments will be served. Limited free parking will be available on a first-come, first served basis in the gated lot behind the Human Services Building, which is accessible from Fort Pitt Boulevard.
Space is limited, so those interested in attending the open house are urged to RSVP early by emailing RSVP-MBE@allegheny county.us or calling 412-350-4309.
