Duquesne students helping in clean up on South Side

August 16, 2011

The South Side will get a few extra set of hands to help beautify the neighborhood on August 20 during the annual Duquesne University's Freshman Orientation cleanup.

As part of its Freshman Orientation Program, Duquesne University is again teaming up with the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC); to conduct a litter pick up on South Side. An estimated 200 students are expected to descent on the South Side to contribute to the ongoing beautification efforts of the community.

The idea of the project is to get the young students of Duquesne to recognize the importance of service to others and the community in which they live. Community members are encouraged to participate in the cleanup by being team leaders for the students. The team leaders will be taking the students to their designated areas and will work side by side with them to beautify the neighborhood.

The cleanup will begin around 10 a.m. and start from the CCI Center parking lot, 64 South 14th Street. Gloves and bags will be provided. To learn more or to volunteer to be a team leader for the Duquesne cleanup, contact Sarah at 412-488-7490 ext. 236 or email
