Melody Guy from Nashivlle, TN will be playing at the Jaggerbush Bar and Grille on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 11 p.m.
South Side resident, Sherri Lynn Dunik, met Ms. Guy while attending the Pilot International Annual Meeting and Leadership Conference in Dallas this July. She was impressed with Pilot International's Service focus was interested in coming to the Jaggerbush while she is in Pittsburgh because of their commitment to the newly forming Pilot Club of South Side.
Ms. Dunik will be in attendance Thursday night accepting new e-members to the South Side club. The Jaggerbush Bar and Grille is at the corner of 23rd and Jane streets.
Ms. Guy is in Pittsburgh as a special guest of Pirates Manager Clint Hurdle to sing the National Anthem on Friday. Her latest album, Real Freedom, is Americana at its best. Her raspy voice and melodies color each song in a unique way that brings the listener back again and again.
"Breaking My Own Heart," which Ms. Guy wrote by herself, is a mid-tempo, groove-song that feels as good as it sounds. In fact, she wrote or co-wrote the entire album.
Her writing really shines on the song, "Mistakes Like Me," which glorifies people who are different on this earth, written about her son with Asperger's Syndrome.
Ms. Guy has appeared with Tanya Tucker, Andy Griggs, Ray Sisk, and Grant Boatwright at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
