Nominations are invited for the annual Power of Work Awards sponsored by Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania to recognize employers' efforts in support of workforce development.
Nomination deadline is September 30. Winners will be honored at an awards ceremony and luncheon at the Omni William Penn Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh on November 10.
The Power of Work Awards competition is open to employers of all types and sizes – businesses, public entities and nonprofit organizations – in Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Washington and Westmoreland counties.
"Anyone can submit a nomination and any employer can win," said Annette Hostoffer, director of development for Goodwill. "Employers are encouraged to nominate themselves and nominations also may be submitted by employees, other businesses or organizations, referral agencies, just about anyone."
An independent panel of human service and human resources professionals, civic leaders, and members of the academic community will evaluate the nominees' efforts in support of workforce development and in creating enhanced opportunities for people who face various barriers to employment. Since the program's inception in 1997, Goodwill has presented Power of Work Awards to more than 40 different employers.
Nomination forms are available on Goodwill's Web site, www.goodwillswpa.org, or by contacting Ms. Hostoffer at 412-632-1941 or annette.hostoffer@goodwill swpa.org.
