Myths & Fables opens

July 12, 2011

In collaboration with Gallery Sim, the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh presents Myths & Fables at Gallery Sim, 1735 East Carson Street, through August 7.

The title of this exhibit, Myths & Fables, defines the latest challenge to AAP Artist members. Artists were asked to create up to two pieces of art in any media, including 3-D, and film/video that expresses their impressions, interpretations and reactions to Myths & Fables, old or new.

Noted artist and arts educator David Olson is the juror for this exhibit. He will be reviewing the works in all media on site at Gallery Sim on East Carson Street. Mr. Olson is an artist, arts educator and musician. He has taught in public schools, W&J College, California University of Pennsylvania, Waynesburg College, Northern West Virginia Community Community College, Westmoreland County Community College, Touchstone Center for Crafts. Education: Penn State, IUP, Pitt.

He has worked on two projects with Dr. Vicky Clark, and is connected with Andy Warhol and Carnegie Museums. In addition to choosing the works to be exhibited in this show, Mr. Olson will also select three works for Juror's Awards.

AAP today consists of more than 500 artist members who live within a 150-mile radius of Pittsburgh and are creators who use all varieties of visual arts media. The purpose of the Association has remained throughout the years, "to foster a love of the fine arts and to inculcate a true appreciation of what Pittsburgh artists do for the advancement of art."

AAP is an independent professional arts organization. For more information about Myths And Fables or the Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, visit the AAP Web site at www.aapgh.org.
