Who has the best garden in Carrick, could be yours

The Carrick Community Council (CCC) is now taking applications for participation in the 2011 Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase.

A new format for this year will be a celebration of all the varieties of gardens in Carrick; showing the neighborhood benefits when Carrick has many beautiful gardens, whether they are large and grand or small and simple.

In announcing this year's contest, the Beautification Committee of the Carrick Community Council thanked Carol Readshaw for her years of organizing and promoting Carrick Goes Gardening over many years.

The primary goal of the Gardening Showcase is to highlight the beauty of the homes and neighborhoods and contribute positively to the quality of life in Carrick.

Participants in the 2011 Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase will have photographs of their garden featured at the September meeting of the CCC and will receive additional modest tokens of appreciation for their efforts.

To support ongoing Beautification in Carrick, the council is asking for a $5 donation to participate in Carrick Goes Gardening this year. For current (2011) members of the Carrick Community Council no additional donation is expected. Those who wish to join the CCC now to support gardening in our community we welcome you.

Applications for the Carrick Goes Gardening Showcase are online at, at the Carrick Branch of the Carnegie Library and at various other business locations in our community. The deadline to apply is June 30.
