Fitzgerald in county

May 10, 2011

In the Allegheny County Executive race, the choice is easy. Rich Fitzgerald has been attentive to the issues of South Pittsburgh for over a decade.

Mr. Fitzgerald has represented South Pittsburgh's 16

th Ward neighborhoods on County Council, and as Allegheny County Council President. To elect a County Executive with such familiarity with our neighborhoods is a rare opportunity which many would envy. Meanwhile, of the other three candidates running for County Executive, two are from Mt. Lebanon and one from Upper St. Clair. We trust that as County Executive, Rich Fitzgerald will remain a friend, ally and frequent visitor to South Pittsburgh neighborhoods.

Mr. Fitzgerald's record includes writing the popular Homestead Exemption program. He has also continually supported the development and expansion of trails and riverfront parks. In his role as Chair of the Committee on Government Reform, he led efforts requiring that campaign finance reports be publicly accessible online, and that Council Meetings are available for viewing on cable television and the County website.
