Children's programs at library

October 19, 2010

Preschoolers ages 3-5 and their parents/caregivers are welcome to come for a story time filled with stories, songs, rhymes and puppets at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh Knoxville Branch, 400 Brownsville Rd.

This series of programs is designed to engage a child's interest in reading and is based on Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards. The programs are offered at 1:30 p.m. each Thursday afternoon through October. Themes for this month include "Autumn Leaves," "Apples & Pumpkins," and "A Not-So-Scary Halloween." A creative craft time adds to the fun each week. Register in advance.

Kids in grades K-5 can attend the Family Study Buddies Program with a parent or adult caregiver and gain skills and knowledge to improve their homework results. This month they'll be tackling library computer resources and learn how to take advantage of free online tutoring.

This program is packed with great information on how to deal with homework issues and lots of free surprises. Register in advance.

All programs are offered free of charge, but registration is required. Call the library at 412-381-6543 to register.
