A spooktacular time planned in Carrick for Halloween season

Carrick will be a scary place during October when Halloween is celebrated throughout the month with the Phillips Park Haunted House and the annual Halloween Parade and Costume Contest.

The Phillips Park Community Center, 201 Parkfield Street, is opening its doors to celebrate Halloween in a special way with a Haunted House on October 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28 and 29. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and close at 9:30 p.m. admission is $2, admission and combo is $3, unlimited nightly pass is $5 with a combo meal. Combos meals vary (i.e. hot dog, Huggie and chips). Addition food and beverages are available for purchase.

For more information on the Haunted House, call 412-885-7445 or visit www. citiparks.net. All proceeds benefit the Phillips Advisory Council and are used to fund programs and activities at Phillips Community Recreation Center.

The kids' Costume Contest for children 12 years of age or younger will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30 at Pittsburgh Concord K-5. Judging will be from 10-10:45 p.m. Trophies will be awarded for the best costumes and there will be treats for all.

Registration is required by Oct. 22, by calling 412-881-7965 and providing the name, age and telephone number for each child being registered.

The Carrick Halloween Parade will immediately follow the Costume Contest on Saturday, Oct. 30. Floats, driving and walking groups participating in parade will meet at the Sankey Avenue and Brownsville Road parking lot at 10 -10:30 a.m. for line up and the parade will begin at 11 a.m.

Registration is also required for floats, driving and walking groups planning to participate in the parade. Parade contestants must provide name of group and phone number when registering. Register by calling 412-881-7965.

Cash prizes of $100, $75 and $50 will be awarded to decorated floats (including driving and walking groups).

City of Pittsburgh Trick or Treat will be Sunday, Oct 31, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. in all city neighborhoods.
