Allentown Adult Day Care annual open house

September 21, 2010

The Allentown Adult Day Service will hold its annual Open House with the theme "Adult Day Services, A Smart Choice" on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 1 – 4 p.m.

"We invite the community to the open house to become acquainted with the services we offer which includes a planned program of social, recreational and developmental activities and nursing care" says Michelle Silliman, program manager. "At the Allentown Adult Day Center we strive to prevent or delay the need for institutional care by offering support to the participants and relief to their families. We provide a nurturing environment which allows dependant seniors the opportunity to remain living in their homes while staying active in the community."

Tours of the facility will be offered and refreshments will be served.

The center serves consumers ages 55 and older, who are physically or socially impaired, mentally confused or in need of supervision throughout the day. Caregivers benefit by being able to continue to work or by relieving them from providing total care of their loved ones.

The Allentown Adult Day Service is beginning its 25th year of servicing the south Pittsburgh communities is a program of the Allentown Senior Citizen Centers, Inc. and is at the Henry Kaufmann Neighborhood House, 2201 Salisbury Street in Arlington. For more information about the program or open house call Ms. Silliman at 412-431-0557 ext. 12.
