Phillips swimmers earn medals in city swim meet
The City of Pittsburgh recently held its annual "Swimming Championships" at the Highland Park pool.
Phillips Park champions in the 10 and under freestyle relay at the City of Pittsburgh annual Swimming Championships. The swimmers are (from left) Julian Giannetti, Skyler Giannetti, Elijah Rego and Bailey Mulvey.
Twelve teams from across the city competed. The children were divided into male and female and then by ages. There were seven races for the boys and girls who are 10 and under or 11 and 12. There are eight races available to children ages 13 and 14 or 15 through 18.
The Phillips Park team had 18 members and is coached by Kacy Klinger. Medals awarded are for first, second and third places. Ribbons are given for fourth through eighth places.
Medal winners for Phillips are Alexandria Bauman, 17, Bronze medals in the 100 backstroke and in the 50 freestyle, Olivia Berry, 14, Silver medals in both the 50 free and 100 breast, Julian Giannetti, 10, Gold medal in the 50 freestyle, Zack Goodall, 15, Gold medals in the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly. Zach also got silver in the 50 freestyle. Robert Warnock, 12, received gold medals in both the 50 freestyle and the 50 breaststroke. Robert also received a Bronze in the 200 intermediate medleys.
The Phillips Park 10 and under boys 200 freestyle relay team also received the gold medal.
