Wheatley Community Appreciation Day Sept. 11

State Rep. Jake Wheatley, D-Allegheny, is inviting organizations and vendors to participate in his eighth annual Community Appreciation Day on Saturday, Sept. 11.

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and will be held at Kennard Field at Kirkpatrick and Reed streets in the Hill District.

"The purpose of the day is to bring the residents and businesses of the 19th Legislative District together for an enjoyable and relaxed experience. My staff and I share information relevant to state government and services while simultaneously offering free entertainment and food. Community Appreciation Day is a free event and this year we are anticipating a turnout of more than 2,000 residents and more than 250 sponsors, vendors and participants," Mr. Wheatley said.

The event will include senior citizen games, children's activities and a gospel choir competition, as well as a concert from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The 19th Legislative District includes part or all of the city neighborhoods of: the Hill District, North Side, South Side, Allentown, Hazelwood, Downtown, the Bluff, Knoxville, Beltzhoover, Manchester, Arlington, Arlington Heights, and West, South and North Oakland.
