Pittsburgh police make drug arrests throughout the city

Pittsburgh narcotics and vice detectives, assisted by SWAT, executed three separate unrelated search warrants at various locations in the City of Pittsburgh on Thurs ., July 15.

At 2:00 p.m ., detectives executed a search warrant in the 4900 block of Dearborn Street in Garfield. Detectives arrested Anthony Freeman, 54.

During a search of his residence, detectives recovered evidence including: a loaded AK-47 assault rifle; a 12 gauge sawed-off shotgun; a loaded 40 caliber Glock pistol; approximately $4,500.00 worth of crack cocaine and heroin; $1,000.00 US currency; and, paraphernalia used to cook and package crack cocaine.

Mr. Freeman was transported to the Allegheny County Jail and will face the following charges: possession of a controlled substance (2 counts); intent to deliver a controlled substance (2 counts); possession of drug paraphernalia (1 count); possession of a small amount of marijuana; and, prohibited offensive weapons.

On Thurs ., July 15, detectives executed a search warrant in the 700 block of Proctor Way in Allentown section of the city. Detectives arrested Edward Mathis, Jr, 18, after undercover officers made two purchases of heroin from him.

During a search of his home, detectives recovered: five bricks of heroin (approximately 250 stamp bags) with a street value of $2,500.

Mr. Mathis was transported to the Allegheny County Jail and will face charges including: possession of a controlled substance (3 counts); intent to deliver a controlled substance (3 counts); and, delivery (2 counts).

Early Fri ., July 16, detectives executed a search warrant in the 5700 block of Rural Street in East Liberty where they arrested Leo Vance Phillips, 26 and Christian Javier, 21.

During a search of the residence, detectives recovered the following: a stolen loaded Smith & Wesson .357 revolver; two bags of crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $3,000; a digital scale with crack cocaine residue; and, $890 in currency.

Mr. Phillips and Mr. Javier were transported to the Allegheny County Jail and will face the following charges: possession of a controlled substance; intent to deliver a controlled substance; drug paraphernalia; criminal conspiracy; and, receiving stolen property.
