Councilwoman wants input on big snow storm

March 30, 2010

A new website and a public hearing for the Task Force on Emergency Operations and Snow Preparedness are underway to gather public comment on the snow storm that crippled the City of Pittsburgh in early 2010.

City Councilwoman Natalia Rudiak has arranged for a public hearing on April 5 at 10 a.m. in Council Chambers. For those who cannot attend the public hearing, the new website has been created where people can submit comments that will be entered into the public record at the hearing.

"There are so many people who have come forward with useful and helpful information regarding the city's snow emergency operations," Councilwoman Rudiak said. "We wanted to make sure that all of these people had a chance to speak on the record and contribute to the final report."

The website where comments can be submitted can be found at: http://snowtaskforce.pittsburghpa.gov.

In addition, Ms. Rudiak announced a planned Post Agenda in City Council to discuss preliminary findings of the snow task force with other experts. That meeting has yet to be scheduled, but is planned for the last week in April. The final report is expected to be released on May 3.
