Concord's first Thanksgiving dinner
Pittsburgh Concord held its first, and hopefully annual, Thanksgiving Dinner on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009.
The school and St. Pius Church have developed a partnership for the dinner and the church's social hall was used for the event.
More than 300 students, family members, and Concord staff members attended the potluck turkey dinner. The Concord Chorus entertained the audience with various songs including "On Thanksgiving" and "Hip Hop Turkey." Karen Spang, a Native American, shared information about her culture and danced for the audience.
Principal Susan Barie introduced new acting PTA president, Peggy Feldman. Ms. Feldman thanked everyone who helped with the turkey dinner and a vote occurred in which it overwhelming was agreed to make the Turkey Dinner a yearly event.
