Divabetic, a pampering holiday event

Following on the heels of November as American Diabetes Month, which is a time to raise awareness about diabetes and the importance of good diabetes management, the American Diabetes Association announces that Divabetic –Pamper Yourself for the Holidays is coming to Pittsburgh on Saturday, Dec. 5 from 1-4 p.m.

West Penn Hospital will host the Divabetic event in the Conference Center and Wintergarden facility at its main complex in Bloomfield.

DIVABETICâ„¢-, is for women at risk of, affected by or living with diabetes. Nationally 23.6 million people, 7.8 percent of the population, are affected by diabetes. For women aged 20 years or older, 11.5 million or 10.2 percent have diabetes. The Divabetic program is a fun and interactive way to learn about diabetes from a woman's perspective.

This free event will include: the Divabetic View, Cooking Demo with Holiday Recipe Makeovers, Moving like a Diva, Fitness with Chris Anthony, Mary Kay Make-up Makeovers, Tobacco Free Allegheny, prizes, giveaways and much more. It will provide an afternoon of diabetes education and empowerment in a relaxed and supportive environment for women.
