Free event concerns stress management

October 27, 2009

Those looking to help manage the stress in their lives are welcome to attend a free event at the South Side Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

Simple Stress Management Techniques for a Difficult Time will be led by Steve Root, a licensed clinical social worker.

"Stress can be our friend and our foe," according to Mr. Root. "It can activate us to meet basic needs and the challenges of daily living. It can also motivate to excel in what we do and take us into uncharted territory that results in living a fuller, more meaningful life. In the extreme and over time, stress can kill us."

Mr. Root plans to lead an informal discussion as well as present two essential concepts and methodws of managing and preventing stress.

The South Side Presbyterian Church is at the corner of South 20th and Sarah streets and is fully handicap accessible. Attendees are asked to use the 20th Street entrance.

For more information, call 412-431-0118.
