Zion Church volunteers operate Coffee Center

October 6, 2009

Zion Christian Church has opened The Oasis Coffee Center at 1912 Brownsville Road in Carrick.

The upscale coffee shop, staffed by volunteers, rewards students for good grades and behavior with free or discounted specialty drinks. Pastor Dan Cramer said the center is part of their non-profit mission to provide a positive influence for the community.

The Oasis Coffee Center is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m .; Fridays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 4 to 7 p.m. Worship at the Oasis is on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. and ‘Sumthin Different' (young adults meeting) is the second and fourth Saturdays at 7 p.m.

The center features specialty coffees and provides a place to make friends, surf the Internet (there are house computers) with the free WiFi, play games, do homework or even read a book.
