State Rep. Jake Wheatley, D-Allegheny, is again sponsoring a free Community Appreciation Day for residents of the 19th Legislative District.
The seventh annual celebration will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12 at Kennard Field, at Reed and Kirkpatrick streets in the Hill District.
The theme for this year's celebration is, "Getting it all together — our health, spirit, minds and attitudes." The festival will feature children's rides, free food, free T-shirts and the final showdown in the Second Annual 19th District Karaoke Idol Competition.
The festival will be followed by "The People's Concert" – also free – from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the same location.
For more information, constituents may call Wheatley's Pittsburgh office, also known as "the People's Office," at 412-471-7760.
The 19th Legislative District includes part or all of these neighborhoods: the Hill District, North Side, South Side, Allentown, Hazelwood, Downtown, the Bluff, Knoxville, Beltzhoover, Manchester, Arlington, Arlington Heights, and West, South and North Oakland.
