Volunteers needed to get farmers' market in Mt. O.

September 8, 2009

Elder-ado's Knoxville Center is interested in sponsoring a Farmers' Market stand in Mount Oliver, but they need help to accomplish the goal.

The stand would offer locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables provided by the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank's Farm Stand Program. The farm stand would be located at the Mount Oliver Clock Tower Square and operate once a week from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from May to September, 2010.

To properly operate the farm stand, four volunteers are needed for each session. Volunteer duties include: stand set up, pricing the produce and check-out. Training will be provided.

Those who would like to have a farmers' stand in the Hilltop and are willing to volunteer to help make it happen are asked to call Steve Hutter at 412-381-6900 by October 1.
