Mount senior center planning health, entertainment events

The Mount Washington Community Senior Center, 122 Virginia Avenue in Mount Washington, will host several events in the coming months.

On Friday, Aug, 14 from 1-3 p.m. at Macy's Department Store auditorium, 11th floor, the Citiparks SeniorInterests Program in conjunction with OASIS will be holding its third annual Senior Talent Extravaganza. Admission is free, but seating is limited. Call 412-488-8405 to RSVP.

Every Monday, from 12:30-2 p.m ., the Mount Washington Senior Center offers Tai Chi class with instructor Gurney Bolster. Class cost is $1 per session.

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 9:30-11 a.m ., Patty from the Mount Washington Carnegie Library will visit the center to help make jewelry from various types of beads. She will also be facilitating a new book club at the center beginning in September. Patty will be providing Nicholas Sparks' novel The Notebook which will be read in the month of September and discussed at the October get together.

Those interested in joining the book club, should call the senior center. All are welcome.

Those 60 years or older and with a birthday in August are welcome to come celebrate at the Mount Washington Community Senior Center for a special lunch on Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 11:30 p.m. RSVP at 412-488-8405 by Monday, Aug. 17.

The Healthy Endeavors Exercise Class meets at the senior center every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
