Free art lessons for kids, seniors at library

June 9, 2009

A free intergenerational art program is being offered at the South Side Branch of the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh this summer for kids in grades 3-5 and older adults.

Those who are looking for a new creative experience may join Create Together, sponsored by the South Side Library, The Allegheny County Library Association, and the Brew House Association. Local artists will conduct weekly classes. The program is designed to allow kids and adults to interact while learning a new art technique each week. It culminates in a gallery exhibit on Sunday, Aug. 9.

Classes will be held on Mondays from 10 a.m. to noon at the South Side Library, beginning June 22 and continuing weekly until July 27. Participants are asked to commit to attending at least five of the six sessions.

Registration is required and space is limited. Call 412-431-0505 to register by Wednesday, June 17. The library is at 2205 E. Carson Street.
