The Carrick Cougars Ice Hockey program will begin "Summer Ice Sessions" on Wednesday, June 3, from 6-7p.m.
These sessions will be held at Ice Castle Arena in Castle Shannon. Participants will include returning Varsity players along with newly registered players for the Junior Varsity and/or freshmen teams. Coaches will provide training in various skills, drills, and scrimmage situations increasing the player's abilities and confidence for season competition.
Cost of the "Summer Ice Session" is $75 and the sessions run through August.
Parents interested in having their son or daughter play high school ice hockey for the Cougars should come to Ice Castle Arena on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. to begin participation in the sessions. Full ice hockey equipment is required to be worn by the player to participate.
In addition to forwards and defensemen they are also in need of players who have experience at the position of goalie.
CCHC Board members will be available to answer questions and provide a 2009-2010 Player Registration packet. The Carrick Cougars Hockey Club participates in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League (PIHL).
Players do not have to live in Carrick or attend Carrick High School to be able play for the Cougars. Boys and girls who will be in grades 6 thru 12 starting in September 2009 are eligible to play on the teams.
The Cougars are considering beginning an independent/developmental team for those players who would like to continue at an instructional level to be better prepared for the following season. This independent/developmental team would play games against other teams in the same classification.
