Phillips students have a field day of fun at Cupples Stadium

Pittsburgh Phillips K-5 held its fourth Annual Field Day at Cupples Stadium on Friday, May 8, 2009.
This event is planned and implemented by Phillips' Health and Physical Education Teacher Jeff Igims. Mr. Igims created all the games and taught the children the rules during classes leading up to the event. He coordinated the schedule and the wealth of parent and community volunteers that helped make the day so special.
The day was filled with games, activities, and a cook-out that were enjoyed by members of the entire school community. More than 60 parent volunteers attended the event and assisted with the games and food preparation and service.
One highlight of the day was the Pittsburgh Perry Band entertaining the crowd during lunch. This was made possible because of collaboration between Mr. Igims and Rick Lane, Perry band director and Phillips parent.
Also attending and assisting were more than 40 physical education students from Perry, made possible by the efforts of Perry Health and Physical Education Teacher Chris Edmunds. The day was a huge success, largely because of the sponsorship of the Pittsburgh Phillips PTO.
