Community Days could use a boost

May 12, 2009

Summer is approaching and the Mount Oliver Community Days Celebration plans are taking shape.

The annual five day event will take place from Tuesday, July 21 through Saturday, July 25 at Transverse Park. Midway Carnival will be back again with rides and games for children of all ages.

Local community groups will be hosting booths and games of skill and chance to aid in their fundraising efforts. Favorite festival foods and beverages will be available during the celebration and there will be live nightly entertainment on the lower field.

The five day celebration will conclude on Saturday night with the family favorite fireworks extravaganza by Zambelli Internationale.

Fundraising is down significantly and no public money is used for the annual event according to Ralph Woods, treasurer of Mount Oliver Community Days. To make sure the festival and fireworks display are what everyone expects, the Community Days committee is making its annual donation solicitation of area businesses and residents.

"Any amount you can donate would be greatly appreciated," says Mr. Woods.

Donations can be sent to: Mount Oliver Community Days, 201 Brownsville Road, Mt. Oliver, PA, 15210.
