THE FOLLOWING PROPOSED ORDINANCE WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR ADOPTION AT THE REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING OF THE MT. Oliver COUNCIL ON MONDAY, MAY 18, 2009

BOROUGH OF MT. OLIVER

PROPOSED ORDINANCE 913

AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOROUGH OF MT. Oliver, COUNTY OF ALLEGHENY, COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA, AMENDING CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE CODE OF THE BOROUGH OF MT. Oliver AND IN PARTICULAR CHAPTER 25, ARTICLE I (OTHERWISE KNOW AS THE POLICE PENSION ORDINANCE).

WHEREAS, the purpose of this Ordinance is to provide for the amendment of article I of Chapter 25 of the Code of the Borough of Mt. Oliver to more fully define "Years of Service."

NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED AND ORDAINED by the Council of the Borough of Mt. Oliver, and it is hereby enacted that Section 25-2 of Chapter 25, Article I of the Code of the Borough of Mt. Oliver shall be amended to include the following:

1. For purposes of this ordinance, aggregate years of service shall be counted from the date of hiring of an officer.

2. The provisions of this Ordinance shall apply to officers:

(a) On full-time status prior to 1/1/06;

(b) On full-time status as of 1/1/06, although hired on a part-time basis;

(c) Hired on a full-time basis after the effective date of this Ordinance, as well as officers hired after the effective date of this Ordinance.
