Reporter cuts staff, office hours

The South Pittsburgh Reporter recently had to reduce staffing due to economic conditions over the last serveral years.

"During the past two years, sales are down nearly 40 percent," stated William T. Smith Jr., publisher of the South Pittsburgh area weekly newspaper. "We've done everything we could to cut expenses and finally had to look at cutting back staff."

Effective immediately The South Pittsburgh Reporter may experience intermittent closing of office and experience irregular hours. Mr. Smith advises those planning to visit the office to call in advance at 412-481-0266 to confirm that the office is staffed at the time.

Mr. Smith said he hoped the staffing cut-back would be temporary, but wasn't optimistic.
