Program on talking to elderly parents

The Mercy Parish Nurse and Health Ministry Program is holding a parish nurse and health minister meeting for continuing education and support on Wednesday, Feb. 11, from 5:30 – 8 p.m.

Topic will be “Talking with Your Elderly Parent about Difficult Topics.” Participants will learn how to sensitively begin discussions with elderly parents about their ability to live independently, safely drive a car, financial situation, and end-of-life wishes. Speaker will be Betty Karleski, Home Instead Senior Care of South Hills.

The program will take place at UPMC Mercy Hospital's Sr. M. Ferdinand Clark Auditorium. Those who would like to attend should register by Jan. 30 by calling 412-232-5815. Fee is $10 and nurses earn 2.5 CEs.
