Upcoming children's programs at the Carrick library
The Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Carrick welcomes families to visit the library this winter for programs for kids of all ages.
Toddler Play Day takes place on the first Saturday of the month at 10a.m. beginning January 3. Toddlers ages 1-3 with their parents can come to hear stories, songs and engage in games and activities specifically for toddlers. Younger children are welcome. Registration is required for this program.
Family Craft time also takes place on the first Saturday of the month at 12-2 p.m. beginnning January 3. Families can drop in anytime between noon and 2 p.m. to make crafts together. No registration is required for this program.
Book Adventures begins this January for children in grades K-2. This is a special after school storytime for younger elementary students who enjoy stories and crafts. The program begins Tuesday January 13 at 4 p.m. Registration is required.
The library's fourth American Girl party will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 14th 4-5 p.m. This month they will celebrate the American Girl Samantha with crafts and activities from the Victorian time period. Students in grades K-5 may register for this program. Look for more American Girl parties in February and March.
Chess Classes will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 20 for six sessions ending on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 6-7 p.m. Come learn how to play chess and get ready for the Library's Chess Tournament February 28. Students in grades K-5 may register and must attend all six sessions. Space is limited so register early.
The library will be hosting special programs for tweens (students in grades 4-7) beginning in January. Want to hear a good story? Like making crafts? Have a favorite book to share? Then come to the Tween Book Bash. Listen to a story or chapter of a book, talk about favorite books and make a craft. This program will be held on Janurary 15 4-5 p.m. Registration is required.
Pirates of all ages can walk the plank at a pirate themed storytime. A treasure trove of stories, activities and crafts will be found. This family program is for all ages and will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 10:30 a.m. Registration is required.
Celebrate the release of the movie “Tale of Despereaux” based on the book by Kate DiCamillo with an after school event at the library. Hear a read aloud from the book and enjoy fun activities based on the book. The event takes place on Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 4 p.m. Students in grades K-5 are invited to register for this program.
