Voice opinion on BaBa D's

City council passed an ordinance last year restricting the locations of liquor license. Baba D's, located at 2126 East Carson, is the first business attempting to get an exception from this ordinance.

They have made it passed the first hurdle, namely the planning commission. They next need to get approval from City Council.

At one time bars and restaurants had to go through a zoning hearing. The time and date of the hearing was posted on the premises and also printed in the Reporter. People could attend the hearing and voice their support or opposition to the business. They could also get some concession from the business to make it less obtrusive.

I was not aware of the planning commission hearing for Baba D's. From what I could tell it was neither posted at the business nor published in the paper. I have heard that the council's public hearing for Baba D's is to take place on December 15 at 10 a.m. The first time that council will discuss the subject will be at the standing meeting on December 17, 2008 at 10 a.m. I would encourage everyone the supports or opposes the liquor license approval for Baba D's to attend the Monday and/or Wednesday meetings.
