Pittsburgh City Council will hold a public hearing to consider granting of a conditional use permit for Baba D's restaurant to operate with a liquor license within the LNC District of the South Side on Wednesday, Dec. 15 at 10 a.m. in City Council Chamber, 5th floor of the City-County Building downtown.
Baba D's had a hearing before the Pittsburgh Planning Commission in September for a Conditional Use exception to operate with a liquor license in the South Side LNC District as required by then Councilman Jeff Koch's legislation aimed at limiting the number of liquor licenses in the neighborhood. Last month the Planning Commission approved the Conditional Use exception with restrictions on when and how the restaurant may operate.
Among the conditions is that the restaurant must close at 11 p.m., a condition that should follow with the address should the restaurant fail and another bar or restaurant try to use the same space.
The Conditional Use exception now must be approved by City Council before the restaurant will be permitted to open and use the liquor license.
