Spirit of Health Van offering free health screening on Hilltop

The Spirit of Health Van, a joint effort between the Sisters of St. Francis, Duquesne University School of Pharmacy, and the Mercy Parish Nurse Program, visits the Hilltop regularly and provides free flu shots and health screenings.

Blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure and bone density screenings are also available, as well as education on diabetes, nutrition, depression, and smoking cessation.

The screenings are staffed by the parish nurse, a pharmacist and pharmacy students from Duquesne University. It serves the South Pittsburgh Hilltop area during the second food bank of the month, at St. John Vianney Parish in Allentown.

The screenings are available between the hours of 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Upcoming dates are Mondays, Nov. 24 and Dec. 22. Call Debbie Koch RN, parish nurse, for more information at 412-381-8300 ext. 20.
