Sabers teams end seasons

October 28, 2008

South Side Sabers Youth Football Organization celebrated its annual Homecoming games at Quarry Field on Saturday, Oct 18.

Parents, family and friends were honored for their time and commitment to their children and the organization. Those attending the games were treated to a special performance by local music artists featuring a former Sabers' star.

To top off the fun-filled day, every Sabers team walked away victorious over the Avonworth Eagles.

The Twerps (8 year olds) defeated the Eagles 32-24. The Termites (9 year olds) shut-out the opposing team 42-0. The Mini Mites (10 year olds) came out on top with a score of 30-6. Another shut-out was delivered by the Mighty Mites (11 year olds) with a final score of 36-0. The Midgets (12/13 year olds) capped off the day with a win of 16-6; the game ended early with the Eagles forfeiting due to injuries.

The Sabers overall season records are as follows: Twerps, 3-5; Termites, 7-1; Mini Mites, 3-5; Mighty Mites, 6-2; and Midgets, 5-3. With these records, the Termites, Mighty Mites and Midget teams will be advancing to the playoffs.
