Explore PA looking for real people to tour Pittsburgh area

July 22, 2008

The travel series Explore PA, which is produced by WITF-TV in Harrisburg and shown on Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN) stations state-wide, is immediately seeking families and couples with diverse backgrounds and lifestyles, to star in an upcoming episode of Explore PA entitled Explore PA Fairs And Festivals: The Pittsburgh Irish Festival. Travelers will be sent on a 4 day getaway to explore the various cultural and historical attractions within Pittsburgh area from September 4-8 and reveal their findings as Pennsylvania “tourists,” all on camera.

They are not seeking actors, rather real people with a love of trying something new, who will be able to spend at least three to four days “on the road.” Children must be at least five years old.

Interested persons should email a short description of themselves and fellow travelers with photos and telephone number to: explorepa@witf.org (preferred) or via post to Explore PA, P.O. Box 2954 Harrisburg, PA 17105. Contact the show's producer, Mark Wallace, for more information on the program at 717-910-2850.

Explore PA reveals what happens when travelers from one part of the state are introduced to a region they've never visited before. Through this unique format, Explore PA highlights Pennsylvania's unique small towns, exciting big cities, beautiful landscapes and thrilling outdoor fun. Viewers will experience art and culture along Pennsylvania's Artists' Trails, mingle with the crowds at Fairs & Festivals, delve into the history of state's Spirit of Independence and reconnect with friends and family in Pennsylvania Homecomings.

The program was made possible through development grants from two Pennsylvania state agencies: The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) and The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

Funding for Explore PA was also provided by the Pennsylvania Public Television Network (PPTN), the statewide system of Public Television Stations that will air the series. Visit http://www.explorepatv.com for more information about Explore PA.
