Mount Oliver Community Days, the annual celebration at Transverse Park, begins today with five evenings of family friendly fun.

Beginning tonight, Tuesday, July 15, Community Days will feature the C&L Shows Midway Carnival, live bands on the Transverse Field Main Stage, karaoke and the annual car cruise along with food and game booths. The annual festival will conclude with a fireworks spectacular on Saturday night.

The Community Days Main Stage will again be on Transverse Field with live entertainment every night. In addition to the live bands including RBB, The Elliotts and Spankiez Wagon there will be Karaoke with DJ Judy on Thursday evening and DJs Fred and Vince Cofini playing during the Car Cruise and beyond on Friday evening.

This year Mount Oliver Community Days will also feature a Fire Truck Cruise and Firefighters Challenge on Saturday night. Come down to Transverse Field early to see the area firefighters test their skills against each other in simulated rescues, attacking fires and more in this competition to see who can do it the safest and quickest.

C&L Shows Midway Carnival returns to Community Days from Tuesday through Saturday nights. Festival organizers expect to offer "One Price Nights" on Tuesday through Friday.

The annual Car Cruise will take place Friday evening on Transverse Field.

Also on Transverse Field, non-profit organizations will host games of skill and chance along with information on their organizations. Bingo will also be held nightly on street level above the field.

Prior to the main events on Saturday, the Hilltop communities are hosting the Second Annual Unity Day Festival on the upper level of Transverse Park. The festival will feature demonstrations of public safety equipment including Emergency Medical Services Fire and Police from Allegheny County, the City of Pittsburgh and the Borough of Mount Oliver.

The Fire Safety Trailer will be there along with representatives and information about DARE. The festival will take place from 3-5 p.m.

Mount Oliver Community Days climax with the annual Zambelli Fireworks Extravaganza Saturday night.
