Carrick native ordained priest by Bishop Zubik
Bishop David Zubik ordained three men to the priesthood on Saturday, June 21, at Saint Paul Cathedral in Oakland.
The men who were ordained are Deacons Nicholas Argentieri, Joseph Freedy and Michael Ruffalo.
Deacon Argentieri, 28, of Carrick, is a member of St. Wendelin Parish. He graduated from Allegheny College, Duquesne University/Saint Paul Seminary and North American College, Rome.
Deacon Freedy, 29, is a member of St. Thomas More Parish. He graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo, Duquesne University/Saint Paul Seminary and North American College, Rome.
Deacon Ruffalo, 27, is a member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin Parish in Whitehall. He graduated from Duquesne University/Saint Paul Seminary and North American College, Rome.
Deacon Argentieri was born on October 3, 1979. He is the son of John and Nancy Argentieri and has one brother, Dominic.
Saint Wendelin Parish in Carrick is Deacon Argentieri's home parish. He attended Saint Wendelin Elementary School in Carrick and Baldwin High School. He graduated from Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
In Fall 2002, Deacon Argentieri was accepted into the priestly formation program and began studies at Saint Paul Seminary and Duquesne University. He completed the pre-theology program and graduated with a Master of Arts in Philosophy for Theological Studies in May 2004.
Deacon Argentieri began theological studies at the North American College, Rome, in Fall 2004. He spent the summer of 2006 in a pastoral experience at Saint Teresa of Avila Parish, Perrysville, and returned there for the summer of 2007.
