Saint Sylvester's earns JV Boys Track & Field honors

Saint Sylvester's earned the Junior Varsity Boys Track and Field honors in the 2008 Junior Varsity Catholic Diocese Championship on Saturday, May 17 at Keystone Oaks High School in the Boys Division.

The team of Josh Wright, Jerad Tuite, Dan Boland, Cody Schmotzer, Joey Mitchell, Bobby Lydic and Jordan Denk garnered 97 points to win the title. Coming in second was Saint Louise with 80 points and third was Saint Ann's with 35 points.

Saint Sylvester's doesn't have a Girls Junior Varsity team, and because track and filed combines the two scores, Saint Sylvester ended up as the runner-up in the team division, second to Saint Louise's 121 points, but first in the Boys Division.

This is Saint Sylvester's first year having a track team and competing in the Catholic track league. Saint Sylvester's doesn't have a track to practice on and they use the school's parking lot.

Saint Sylvester's medaled in every event they competed in except the 400 meter run. Individual performances were as follows: Josh Wright, silver, 100 meter dash; Jerad Tuite, gold, 200 meter dash; Danny Boland, silver, 1600 meter run; Danny Boland, Cody Schmotzer, Josh Wright, Jerad Tuite, gold, 4x100 meter relay; Danny Boland, Joey Mitchell, Jerad Tuite, Josh Wright, gold in 4x400 meter relay; Josh Wright, silver, long jump; Jerad Tuite, bronze, long jump; Josh Wright, silver, shot put; Danny Boland, bronze, shot put.
