Hanging baskets tied to street cleaning

The South Side Local Development Company is coordinating a neighborhood-wide installation of hanging flower baskets for the spring to early fall months of 2008.

The baskets will be prepared by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy and maintained throughout seasons. Each 14" basket will contain both sun and shade tolerant plant varieties to ensure beauty in every location.

The Flower Basket Fund is part of a South Side Clean & Safe campaign and will be used to secure additional funding from the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Contributions will help leverage $30,000 to be used for ongoing street level clean up and improvements such as: litter removal, weeding, graffiti removal, and winter maintenance.

Each $300 sponsor will receive their name on a plaque accompanying each basket along with recognition in the South Side Local Development newsletter as well as on its Website.
