It is the New Year - time to make resolutions or, how about a pledge instead of a resolution?
A pledge to be a more environmentally friendly community oriented citizen. A pledge to take the time to keep your street, neighborhood, and city clean. A pledge not to litter!
This year the Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) is kicking off its annual “Take the Pledge Not to Litter” Contest. The contest runs through Earth Day on April 22. People can participate by stopping at one of the following eco-friendly retailers and Take a Pledge Not To Litter:

By “Taking the Pledge” participants are entered into a drawing to win a Litterbug Prize Package. To promote the use of eco-friendly, recycled content and fair trade goods the prize package includes a $35 dollar gift certificate from the E House Company, a $50 gift certificate to Whole Foods Market, a group climbing party at REI, $25 dollar gift certificate to REI and a “Get Dirty” T-shirt. The prizes were donated from The E House Company, Whole Foods Market and REI.
PRC, a 501(C)(3) non-profit environmental organization, is one of the oldest citizen action environmental organizations (founded in 1939) in the Commonwealth. The creator of the Litterbug, PRC's main focus is waste reduction and litter prevention issue. The goal of the contest is to get the issue of litter prevention out to the public and get the public thinking about how to make their communities cleaner more beautiful places to live.
