The South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association (SSSNA) has received a $3,000 grant from PNC Bank and the PNC Foundation to fund costs of the newsletter and website that the organization uses to communicate to its membership, which includes approximately 250 households.
“We place a lot of value in sharing information with our members and the roughly 50 businesses and public officials who share our interest in the neighborhood,” said Brad Palmisiano, SSSNA president. “We also recognize the importance of the internet in our outreach efforts.” Laura Swiss, community development banking consultant for PNC, presented the check at the association's Jan. 8 general meeting.
SSSNA plans to use a portion of the grant to fund a mailing to all residents of the South Side Slopes. In addition, the funds will pay for newsletter printing, postage, and mailing costs for the year, as well as the hosting and maintenance of the website in 2008.
The internet has become ever more valuable and accessible due to its availability in homes, through work and the public libraries. Many SSSNA members receive the newsletter via email, which helps the organization control costs.
SSSNA has an ambitious goal of increasing its membership and outreach within the community. The website can be viewed by visiting www.southsideslopes.org.
