County implements new system for paying fines

October 23, 2007

Allegheny County Clerk of Courts George Matta has established a new partnership with Western Union to help make paying costs, fines and restitution more convenient with a web based secured payment system.

The new EZ Pay system will accept credit card payments via the Clerk of Courts website (www.county. allegheny.pa.us, click on Departments, Clerk of Courts, Online Clerk of Courts Payment System). The system will require a minimal fee for processing.

“This is just one of many ongoing programs we are implementing to help increase the collection of money owed to victims and taxpayers. The cost of parking and gas is escalating daily and this convenient system helps everyone involved,” said Mr. Matta.

Until now, the Clerk of Courts accepted credit card payments at its courthouse location. The new agreement will allow the Clerk of Courts Collections Division to accept credit card transactions on incoming and outgoing dunning calls.
