Alternative transportation showcase in S.S.

Ride, run, walk, peddle or paddle to the region's first festival showcasing the use of “alternative transportation” – public transportation, car-sharing, alternative fuels and human-powered vehicles on Friday, Oct. 5.

Sessions will be at lunchtime, 11:30-1:30 p.m. and after work, 3-8 p.m. at three locations: Market Square, Downtown; Schenley Plaza, Oakland; and, SouthSide Works, South Side.

Free activities include alternative vehicles (AFV), hybrid and “Smart Car” demos, biofuel production and straight vegetable oil conversion workshops, advanced vehicle technology speakers and forum, bicycle repair workshops and guided rides, environmentally conscious art and music; prizes and giveaways.

The event is fund by The Sprout Fund and presented by Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities in coordination with Steel City Biofuels, Bike Pittsburgh and Restorative Events. For more information visit http://www.cleancities-pittsburgh.net.
