Passports available at Carson St. Post Office

July 17, 2007

The United States Postal Service has made it more convenient for customers to travel internationally by increasing the number of post offices that process passport applications nationwide.

“The Carson Station offers postal customers the convenience of applying for a passport when they purchase postage products or services, saving a trip to a passport agency,” said Norbert Campbell, manager of the station at 1725 E. Carson Street, South Side.

Customers can go online at http://www.usps.com/passport to get information on application costs and to download a passport application form.

When applying customers will need to present proof of citizenship, proof of identity, provide two passport photos, a social security number and pay the fees: $97 for adults plus separate payments of $30 to the U.S. Postal Service for processing and $67 to the Department of State. For youngsters under 16 the cost is $82, with separate payments of $30 to the Postal Service and $52 to the State Department.

Photo service is also available at the Carson Station. Passport photos can be taken for a fee of $15 for the two required.
