A+ Schools will host a community meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 17 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to discuss factors and values such as student achievement, safety, cost, diversity and convenience that should go into policy making decisions in configuring school facilities for Pittsburgh Public Schools.
The meeting will be at the IBEW Local #5 Building on the South Side.
After the community meeting, an on-line survey will be launched to gauge public preferences on a range of factors and values as identified at the community meeting. The on-line survey will be active for 2-3 weeks.
A+ Schools will host a follow-up meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 7 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. to report the results of the survey and discuss the implications for future configuration of the Pittsburgh Public Schools facilities. This meeting will also be at the IBEW.
The results of the survey and the discussion from the Sept. 7 meeting will be used to form a set of policy recommendations to the Board of Education regarding school closings and the resulting configuration of school buildings. These recommendations will be released before the school district takes any final action on closings for the 2006-07 school year.
