On Sunday, July 24 runners will have an opportunity to participate in Kayla's Run for SIDS and at the same time raise much-needed funding to support the ‘Cribs for Kids' campaign and SIDS support services. The ‘Cribs for Kids' campaign, initiated by District Attorney Stephen Zappala and under the direction of SIDS of PA (Sudden Infant Death Services), has provided over 3,200 cribs and mattresses to families from low-income areas of Allegheny County.
Kayla's Run for SIDS, a 5K Run and 2 Mile Walk, will start at Baldwin High School and travel through Baldwin and Whitehall neighborhoods. Pre-registration deadline is Monday, July 18 at a cost of $16. Registration on race day is $18. Runners can also register online at www.active.com. All pre-registered runners will receive a T-shirt commemorating the race.
A special trophy will be given to the overall male and female winners and trophies will be given to the top three males and females in each age group. Random drawings following the race will include over 100 prizes including TVs, VCRs, getaway weekends and much more. Over $10,000 in prizes and trophies will be awarded.
