Carrick On Wheels Safety Day

More than 70 children registered for the annual Carrick On Wheels Safety Day over the weekend sponsored by the 29th Ward Carrick Block Watch, Pittsburgh Police Bike Patrol Zone 2 and the Zone 3 Community Problem Solving Officers. Children had the opportunity to have their “wheels” checked out by the police officers, get fitted for a new bike helmet if they needed one and have a chance at winning a new bicycle. Zone 3 CPS Officer Ron Tardivo performs a quick safety check on a bike before getting it back on the road while Linda Gigliotti from the Zone 2 Mountain Bike Division makes sure that five-year-old Joshua Ali's new bike helmet is fitting properly. Avid fisherwoman and block watch coordinator JoAnn Herman couldn't pass up the opportunity to have her photo taken with mascot Frankie the Fish from Alcosan.
