Blood drive this week helps to bolster low holiday supply

The Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and Central Blood Bank encourage the public to give the gift of life this holiday season by donating blood at Mercy Hospital's Emergency Blood Drive.

The drive will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Sister M. Ferdinand Clark Auditorium, Side B at Mercy Hospital, 1400 Locust Street, Uptown, and is intended to bolster the region's blood supply, which is typically smaller at this time of year.

The drive is open to the public. Walk-ins are welcome; however, for the donor's convenience and to avoid possible wait times, appointments are encouraged.

Participants will be asked to present at least one form of identification such as a driver's license or a current Central Blood Bank donor card. For more information or to schedule an appointment call Tina Bialek at 412-232-7595.
