Volunteer opportunities abound at UPMC So. Side

June 22, 2004

Now that the cold weather is over, it could be time to think about volunteering at UPMC South Side. The hospital offers free lunches, parking and educational workshops.

As part of the Volunteer Services Department, volunteers play an important role in enhancing the service at UPMC South Side. People of all ages are needed – adults, teens ages 14 through 18, and college students.

They are in need a few smiling faces to meet and greet visitors at our Information Desk from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Other volunteer opportunities at the hospital and satellite offices include: computer assistant, to enter data and perform other computer related tasks; patient visitor and host, to visit and talk with current residents and greet newly admitted patients to assure satisfaction; receptionists to greet patients and families to the inpatient units; and clerical volunteers, to help staff answer phones, file and copy. Training will be provided.

For more information or to volunteer, call Pat Simmons at 412-488-5866.
